1977 Daytona 24h, Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. Hurley Haywood competed in Daytona with a normally aspirated Porsche 911 Carrera RSR from Ecurie Escargot, the French name for snail. A good name, the Inaltera prototypes and new Porsche 935 turbo’s were at least 10 seconds a lap faster. But Daytona always produces some surprises and this snail was one of them. Haywood had won the race already in 1973 and 1975 for Brumos and did also in 1977.
