1968 Spa-Francorchamps 24h, Porsche 911L. 1968 was only the 5th running of the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. It already was very popular with teams and spectators. The battle went on between the fast Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA’s and Porsche 911’s that had a small 2-liter engine in those years. The Porsche 911L prepared by Kremer took victory in a time that Erwin Kremer himself drove as well.

1978 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 934. Everybody knows the famous orange livery of German liquor producer Jägermeister. Interesting is that no cars in that livery drove at Le Mans before, most were racing in ETCC / DRM / DTM and world championship sports cars. One man managed to drive the famous colours at Le Mans: Hervé Poulain, the same that took the initiative for the famous BMW Art cars in the previous years. Again, he added another famous livery to the Le Mans history.

1976 Nürburgring 1000 km, Porsche 935 K1. The new group 5 rules were a perfect match for Porsche. They developed the 935 out of the 911 turbo (930) streetcar and won the first few races, but at the Nürburgring got defeated by the fast BMW coupé. Kremer Racing built its own version of a Porsche 935, the K1. It wasn’t as fast as the works car, but better than the 934/5. Unfortunately the 2nd spot on the grid didn’t pay off in the race because the car retired with a broken driveshaft.

1978 DRM Championship Norisring, Porsche 935/77A. Competition in the division I of the DRM was huge in 1978. Schurti, Wollek and Hezemans all took several wins in their 935’s. Wollek in his Kremer Porsche won at Nürburgring and finished 3rd at Norisring, he also performed very well outside the DRM and that brought him the prestigious Porsche Cup and some fine prize money. The title in DRM wasn’t for a Porsche however; Harald Ertl won the championship driving a Schnitzer BMW 320 turbo in division II.

1979 DRM Championship, Porsche 935 K3. The K3 version of the Porsche 935 was a fantastic car. Not only did Klaus Ludwig win 10 out of 11 races in this year’s DRM he would also win Le Mans The following year everybody wanted a K3, but it never came to the succes it had in 1979. Maybe after all it was the Ludwig-factor that made it invincible …
The model is the car in pale blue, but most of the season Ludwig raced in white with Mambo sponsorship.

Kremer’s #1 driver Klaus Ludwig drove together with the Whittington Brothers, but Klaus was the fastest by far and did most of the driving. The group 6 Porsche 936 should have won but failed to finish or got disqualified, so it was a GT car that took the honors but still a Porsche.

The car was modified according to IMSA GTX rules, where the doors don’t have to be the original shape, which was the case in group 5. John won the 1 hour race at Lime Rock and together with David Hobbs, he also took victory at Mid-Ohio. Fitzpatrick also had a Joest Moby Dick replica 935 that he used at Le Mans. This 924 GTR was entered by Kremer Racing and driven by “John Winter” (real name Louis Krages). As there was no seperate category for Group B cars, it had to run in Division 1 against the 700 hp Porsche 935’s and stood no chance.
