1993 Italian Super GT, Ferrari 348 GTC. In 1993, the Italian GT Championship was one of the leading Championships in Europe. In category I the battle went on between a Jaguar XJ220 and a small armada of Ferrari F40. Division II was the territory of Oscar Larrauri in the Jolly Club Ferrari 348 GTC who took many class wins and finished second in the championship.

1993 Bologna Motor Show, Ferrari 348 GTC. The Bologna Motor Show had some outdoor activity too, sometimes even with Formula 1 cars competing in a super special. In 1993, Roland Asch drove one of the Ferrari’s from the Italian GT Championship and provided some nice pictures.

1990 IMSA Watkins Glen, Ferrari F40 LM. GT’s almost disappeared from the race tracks in Europe by the end of the 80’s. In the USA GT’s could be found: In IMSA GTO Nissan ZX and Mazda RX7 race Mercury Cougars and the works Audi Quattro. French Ferrari distributor Pozzi judged it a fine platform to race it’s Ferrari super car, the F40. In 1988 it raced once and in 1990 two cars were entered in the championship. At Watkins Glen it finished 2nd despite a blown engine in the last lap.

1994 JGTC Mine, Ferrari F40 GT. 1994 Was the second year of the Japanese GT Championship. The grid was a miraculous mix of exotic cars: Lots of Nissan Skylines, but also Porsche GT2 and a former group C 962, Toyota Supra and a Ferrari F40. The F40 was entered by Team Taisan and won the final race of the season at Mine. In that race, Team Taisan even entered this second F40 in the well known black and red Yokohama livery.

1994 BPR Series Vallelunga, Ferrari F40 GT Evoluzione. The BPR series (organised by Barth, Peter and Ratèl) grew and got more professional. It soon became the non-official European Championship which attracted better teams, cars and drivers. Among these, this Strandell Ferrari F40 that won once.

1995 Le Mans 24h, Ferrari F40 GT Evoluzione. The Ferrari F40 made, as old as it already was, a career in the BPR Series where it was quite successful. In Le Mans however, it never finished higher than 6th. This French Aldix Racing F40 finished 12th in this year’s race.

2002 Le Mans 24h, Ferrari 360 Modena. The Porsche 911 GT3 is the car to beat, but the best contender to do so is the Ferrari 360 Modena. The successor of the Ferrari 355 is not as reliable as the Porsche in endurance racing, but the speed is there. The JMB entry had to retire.

2007 FIA GT Championship, Ferrari 430 GTC. The all new Ferrari 430 GTC is the successor of the 360, and much more powerful with is 4.3 liter V8. This #50 car dominated FIA GT Championship with 6 wins in 10 races. Its teammates took another two wins. Müller and Vilander took the GT2 driver title and of course the team title was for AF Corse.

2011 Nürburgring 24h, Ferrari P4/5 Competizione. James Glickenhaus had the first of the Ferrari P4/5 built by Pininfarina in 2006, the car was inspired by the 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 and was based upon the 12 cilinder Enzo. This competition version has been built from a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. N-Technology prepared the car for the Nürburgring 24 hours race and it was driven by two former F1 stars, Larini and Salo.

2012 Le Mans 24h, Ferrari 458 Italia GTC. Italian AF Corse is supported by Ferrari and one of the top teams in GTE classes in WEC and at Le Mans. #51 Is their best team with a very strong driver line-up. But Giancarlo Fisichella crashed on wednesday during practice. The chassis was beyond repair, so a replacement chassis was bought in and had top be built up. In the race everything went perfect, the red racer started in the back, took the lead in GTE Pro in the 10th hour and kept it until the finish.

2017 Daytona 24h, Ferrari 488 GTE. In 2016 Ferrari introduced the 488 GTE as successor of the 458 Italia GTC. It doesn’t have a 4.8 liter engine as the name may suggest, but a 3.9 liter V8 twin turbo. Risi Competitione, an American Ferrari team entered a 488 GTE with three factory drivers behind the wheel. They finished 3rd in GTE LM, only 3 seconds behind the winning Ford GT.

2021 DTM Championship, Ferrari 488 GT3. Instead of the planned technical merger with Japanese Super GT 500, DTM switched policy and since 2021, GT3 cars are the standard. Red Bull junior Liam Lawson got the opportunity to compete the entire season in an AF Corse prepared Ferrari 488. He won the first race at Monza and would win two more at the Red Bull Ring. In the last race of the season, Lawson got crashed out by Audi driver Kelvin van der Linde and because some Mercedes drivers slowed down to let Maxi Götz pass, Liam lost the championship by only 3 points.

2023 Nürburgring 24h, Ferrari 296 GT3. German Frikadelli Racing is a long time contender in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the 24-hour race. They have been a Porsche client for many, many years. In 2023 Frikadelli switched to the new Ferrari 296 GT3. A new developed car with a more compact 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo engine that is also the basis for the LM Hybrid 499P. It brings Frikadelli great success as they win the most grueling 24-hour race.
