In the late 1960s, Porsche entered many sports cars in races, and to support the factory external semi-factory teams were set up. In 1969, Porsche Salzburg became such a works team and competed in the World Championship in 1970. In 1971, Martini Racing took over as the second factory-backed team besides John Wyer.

- BEST 9032 & 9350 (diecast)
1970 Targa Florio, Porsche 908/03. Also at the Targa Florio the Porsche 908/03 was almost unbeatable. The Targa Florio is almost a rally; a single lap is 71 km / 45 mile long and has over 800 corners. But these are no rally cars where a co-pilot guides you, this is a world championship race in which 400 hp prototypes race, insane! The John Wyer Porsche 908/03’s finished 1st, 2nd and 5th. This Salzburg 908/03 failed to finish because it crashed in the first lap.

1970 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 917K. The Porsche 917 was the favorite for the 1970 Le Mans race. This Porsche Salzburg car won the race however it wasn’t the fastest car on track, but one of 7 (!) that managed to finish the race under very bad weather conditions. It was a historic race, not at least because it was the first overall win at Le Mans by Porsche.
