January 16, 2026 | Spotlight #9
Every week I put a random model from my collection in the spotlight, this week:
The “black widow” Porsche 936 from Nürburgring 1976 which can be found in #071 Porsche 936 factory cars
1976 Nürburgring 300km, Porsche 936. The 1976 Porsche 936 was the first of a new generation Porsche prototypes and the successor of the 908/03 turbo from 1975. It was a kind of kit-car with 917 suspension and body parts and the engine of the 1974 Carrera RSR Turbo. Development started only in October 1975 and it made its debut at the 300km Nürburgring race where it was beaten by the Joest 908/03 turbo. Porsche decided to do the entire world championship and Le Mans with it, all other races it competed in the familiar white Martini livery.
#1 Jochen Mass (D) – 6th
Porsche 936/76 – 2.1 liter Porsche 911/78 flat-6 turbo, approx. 540 hp. Goodyear tires. Weight 750 kg. Steel space frame, chassisnr. 936 #001

Last week’s spotlight model was:
The 2018 Super GT Lexus LC500 which can be found in Collection #058 Red Bull
2018 Japanese Super GT Championship Autopolis, Lexus LC500. Plans were to synchronize the Japanese Super GT regulations with those of the German DTM. Both championships agreed on the use of 4-cylinder turbo engines. The RI4AG version of Toyota was considered to be the most powerful. The merger between SGT and DTM never happened. The Germans now use the GT3 format for their championship, similar cars race in Super GT in the lower GT300 category. The GT500’s are much faster and certainly have more than 500 hp.
#1 Ryo Hirakawa (J) / Nick Cassidy (NZ) – 1st
Lexus LC500 – 2.0 liter Toyota RI4AG 4-cylinder turbo, approx. 650 hp. Bridgestone tires. Weight 1250 kg. Chassis Aluminum space frame, chassisnr. unknown
