1970 Nürburgring 300 km, BMW 2800 CS Alpina
The 1970 300 km race was held in separate events. One race for cars up to 1300 cm3 and up to 1600 cm3 and one for cars above 1600 cm3 which was race 2 of the DARM championship. Austrian Günther Huber won the last one in his Alpina BMW ahead of two Alfa Romeo 2000 GTAm. Other than the name suggests, the competition versions of the 2800 CS didn’t have a 2.8 liter engine, but already 3.0 liters with about 250 hp.

1972 Nürburgring 24h, Ford Capri RS 2600
Klaus Fritzinger ran one of the former Ford works cars. He got support from the factory; at the Nürburgring 24 hour race, Fritzinger was joined by works driver Hans Joachim Stuck. They finished second. Kelleners and Pankl won the race in their Alpina BMW 2800 CS.

This beautiful Wolfgang Land prepared 911 GT3 RSR failed to finish the very tough Nürburgring 24 hour race in 2008. One of the drivers is the son of racing legend Hans Joachim Stuck, who has the Austrian nationality.

2009 Nürburgring 24h, Audi R8 LMS
The Audi R8 has been developed by Audi on the same platform as the Lamborghini Gallardo. The street versions use the Quattro AWD-system. In the new developed GT3 car, this is not allowed and these have only rear wheel drive. Audi entered four Audi R8 LMS for this year’s Nürburgring 24 hour race. All cars finished the race, this one in 12th place overall. It was 3rd of the Audi’s. The race was won by a Manthey Porsche GT3 RSR.

2014 Nürburgring 24h, Aston Martin Vantage V12
The Nürburgring 24h race is home ground for the German makes which usually win: Audi in 2012; Porsche in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011; Mercedes in 2013 and BMW in 2005 and 2010. Another brand that is always present is Aston Martin, either with the near standard Rapide or this awesome GT3 which looks much like the GTE version used at Le Mans. Major difference is that this car has the lovely sounding V12 under the bonnet where the GTE version has the more raw sounding V8. The Vantage finished 5th overall.

2020 Nürburgring 24h, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 evo
The Nürburgring 24h race is usually held in the spring, but because the COVID19 epidemic it was postponed to September and held without public. The race was won by the #99 ROWE BMW. Two from three entered HRT Mercedes finished inside the top 10; #6 was 8th, #2 finished 9th and the #4 had to retire. Yelmer Buurman had crashed hard during the second qualifying session but the HRT mechanics managed to get the car together and make it reliable enough to finish te race.

2022 DTM Nürburgring, Mercedes AMG GT3 evo
One of the most famous touring car championships in the world, the DTM had become much too expensive and therefore also switched to the popular GT3 format. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini and Ferrari are all present. Mercedes supports four teams that enter a total of 8 cars in the championship. This is the Haupt Racing Team (HRT) entered car for Luca Stolz wins the race at the Nürburgring. He also finishes 2nd twice and ends in 6th place in the championship.
