The Ferrari 333 SP was Ferrari’s car for the new World Sport Cars category (WSC), the successor of the IMSA GTP. The WSC cars were open-top, flat-bottomed sports-prototypes with production based engines. In the FIA championships and Le Mans this category was named LMP1. Competition came from Joest-Porsche, Kremer K8, Riley & Scott, Spice, Courage and Lola. A total of 40 chassis were built, the first 4 by Ferrari, then 11 by Dallara and the remaining 25 by Michelotto. 333 refers to the cubic capacity of 1 cylinder. So the V12 has a 4.0 liter engine with Formula 1 roots and is also used in the F50 street car. In racing trim it delivered about 640 hp @ 11.000 rpm. Music!!!
