1995 BPR-series 4h Donington, McLaren F1 GTR. Andy Wallace and Derek’s son Justin Bell shared this Harrods car in the BPR Series. Third place at Donington was their best result. Once Justin was replaced by French F1 driver Olivier Grouillard, the team showed its real potential. Wallace and Grouillard won the last three races in the season.

1995 Le Mans 24h, McLaren F1 GTR. The McLarens were the great surprise of 1995. Of course the cars were fast and extremely reliable, but the weather was in their advantage too because the prototypes couldn’t capitalize on their supreme speed. This Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing car won ahead of the Courage LMP1 and three more McLarens.

1996 BPR Series Spa-Francorchamps 4h, McLaren F1 GTR. Thomas Bscher and John Nielsen took the BPR title in 1995, so they were allowed to use #1 this year. At Spa-Francorchamps, the car had West livery on it. In many other events the tobacco advertising was replaced by an unreadable version of West or by East. The 1996 title went to the GTC/Gulf Mclaren of Ray Bellm and James Weaver.

1996 Le Mans 24h, McLaren F1 GTR. At Le Mans 1996 David Price Racing team was reinforced with Dutchman Peter Kox, they finished 4th despite a small off. The usual sponsor West (and its alternative East) weren’t allowed, so the team had support from Art Sports, 0123 and TAG Heuer.

1996 Le Mans 24h, McLaren F1 GTR. Seven McLarens competed in this year’s race, of which 6 finished in the top 11. Reliable they were but the speed just couldn’t match that of the Porsche GT1 and WSC Prototypes. This, the winning team from last year, was the only Mac to retire.

1998 Le Mans 24h, McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. These two GTC entered cars were the only Macs starting at Le Mans in 1998. These weren’t very fast compared to the new generation GT1 prototypes, but still very very reliable. #40 was in the pits only for fuel and tires and finished a very impressive 4th overall. Despite having two future winners on board – Capello and Pirro – #41 crashed Sunday morning

1999 Fuji 1000 km, McLaren F1 GTR. After the GT1 class disappeared, most McLarens all went to musea, but some remained active such as this one that was bought by Japanese Mitotsuyama Racing. The used it in the 1999 Fuji 1000km race. A non-championship event that was won by the Nissan R391 in front of the famous Toyota GT-One. The following years the Mac would compete in the Japanese GT500 Championship.
