Repsol YPF is a Spanish oil and gas company that supports motor racing (cars and bikes). In the late 80’s they were known as sponsors from the Brun Motorsport team and after that the Kremer team. Nowadays Repsol mainly supports motorcycle racing teams.
1971 Rally Vasco-Navarra, SEAT 124 Sport. Long before Volkswagen bought SEAT, the Spanish manufacturer built FIAT models named SEAT such as this 124 Sport. Escuderia Repsol was a well known rally team established with support of oil company Repsol in 1969. They always have the round R symbol on the car. Manuel Juncosa was one of the most successful drivers in Catalunya and won many regional rallies and championships, mainly with SEAT and FIAT Abarth but not in this rally.

1988 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 962C. Brun Motorsport entered two Porsche 962C’s. This one finished 7th, the #4 Camel car crashes after 91 laps. Eight out of ten top places are for Porsches, but the victory goes to Jaguar.

1989 Brands Hatch 480 km, Porsche 962C. The World Championship Sportscars was ran in short races over 300 miles. All but one were won by Sauber-Mercedes. The Brun Motorsport team was not very succesful this year. Neither with this old chassis nor with the new Thompson built honeycomb ones.

1989 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 962C. However Le Mans was no part of the World Championship this year, the grid was well filled. Only the works Porsches were not present, but there were enough 962C’s; Walter Brun brought 5 of them to France. This was the fastest one, but it retired with a broken engine.

1990 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 962C. 1990 Was the first year that the chicanes at the Mulsanne straight were being used, this limited the top speed and the advantage of longtail versions. The shorttail Brun Porsche was very competitve: it qualified 2nd and was going to finish in that position also … but 30 minutes before the end of the race, the engine seized. Because of this, Jaguar took a double victory.

1991 World Rally Championship Tour de Corse, Toyota Celica GT4. The Toyota Celica GT4 made its debut in the World Rally Championship in 1988 and took its first victory in the hands of Juha Kankunnen in 1989. In 1990 Carlos Sainz managed to grab the world title with 4 victories and 5 more podiums. He defended his title in 1991 again with Toyota, but despite five WRC-wins – including the Tour de Corse – he finished second in the championship behind Kankunnen who had switched to Lancia.

1994 Le Mans 24h, Ferrari 348 GT Competizione. Behind the battle between the prototypes and Dauer GT1, a divers field of GT2 cars battled for class honors. Porsche 911, Honda NSX, Callaway Corvette, Alpine, Venturi and two Ferrari 348 GT Competitizione. In the end, Porsche teams filled the podium un GT2 and this all Spanish Ferrari crew finished 4th in class.

1996 BPR Series Jarama, Porsche 911 GT2 evo. The Kremer Porsche sponsored by Repsol competed in a number of races from the BPR GT Series this year. Last year’s crew was strengened with the fast and experienced Christophe Bouchut but it didn’t bring succes. The Porsche GT2 evo – that had to run in the GT1 category – had to retire on numerous occasions.

1999 Le Mans 24h, Lola B98-Ford. Kremer Racing used to race Porsches at Le Mans. In the previous years they raced the Porsche-engined K8 but that got outdated. In 1999 they chose the all new Lola B98 with a 6-liter Ford-Roush V8-engine. Unfortunately the gearbox broke down after 146 laps and the car had to retire.
