1998 Porsche Supercup, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
A revolution took place. After having built air-cooled flat-6 engines for 35 years, Porsche introduced a water-cooled engine in their new 996. Patrick Huisman won his second of 4 championships in a row in the new 996 GT3. By doing this, he is still the most successful driver in the Supercup.

2001 Le Mans 24h, Porsche 911 GT3 R
Freisinger Motorsport is one of the German top teams that used the Porsche 911 GT3. The GT’s did excellent in Le Mans, the Freisinger team finished 7th overall and second in the category, just behind a similar car from Seikel Motorsport. One of the drivers of the Freisinger car is Gunnar Jeanette who’s would race Porsches in his own team also. In the last qualifying session on Thursday, Gunnar had a heavy crash , the Freisinger team needed the entire Friday and Saturday morning to rebuild the car. Romain Dumas had to start from the pit lane, so finishing second in class must feel like a victory.

2004 Daytona 24h, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
The Flying Lizard team entered two 911s in the GT category. A 911 GT3 RS that withdrew before the start and a near standard 911 GT3 Cup. It was only the second season of the new Daytona Prototypes and these were not yet reliable or fast. A DP Doran Pontiac did win, but GT Porsches finished 2nd and 3rd. This Cup car finished in third, in the same lap as an Orbit Racing 911 GT3 RS.

Hatsune Miku is very popular in Japan. She is a hologram projection that performs for a live audience together with a real band. She also sponsors the Porsche from Goodsmile Racing in the GT300 category of the Super GT Championship. The team drove two different cars this season. It started with this older 996 version, the second part they drove the newer 997 Porsche.
